Students balance the arts with academics

The Diploma Programme (DP) gives students the skills they need for success both inside and outside of the classroom. These three DP graduates pursued interests in music and sports while they worked to complete the full IB diploma. How did they manage their time to get it all done? Read their stories to find out.

Henry Kantrow: The right rhythm: mixing science and music

A teacher offered Henry Kantrow’s class one piece of advice early in high school: “Everyone in this room should try the DP.” Although it seemed daunting at first, he took the invitation and blended work in the sciences with his passion for music.

Alejandro Viramontes: Composing the future

To quote Emerson, “If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.” Alejandro’s passion for music shined through everything: he formed a band, tackled composition in IB music HL, and now attends Berklee College of Music.
