My sense is we need to teach/encourage appropriate use of technology just as much as we need to teach students how to behave in a science lab. The difference being that students don't tend to have bunsen burners or containers of sulphuric acid at home. The challenge for teachers is, "Yes guys, I know you know how to use a mobile phone. However, at my school there have been several situations in which students' use of technology compromised their integrity. I think it needs to be encouraged, but monitored.
