A joint partnership by the International Baccalaureate and Aga Khan Development Network

About the project

“As we move into the future, we would like to collaborate with the International Baccalaureate movement in a challenging, but inspiring new educational adventure. Together, we can shape the very definition of a well educated global citizen.”

This project has developed through a joint partnership by the International Baccalaureate and Aga Khan Development Network. The aim is to produce and distribute units of work and teacher resource materials for PYP and MYP teachers using Muslim history and culture as a context.
Major objectives:

  • Develop PYP planners and MYP units of work to support the mission of the IB and Aga Khan Academies
  • Share reflections with participants’ school communities on human commonality, diversity, and multiple perspectives
  • Trial the planners and units of work in project participants’ schools
  • Analyse feedback from the trials and refine the planners and units of work
  • Distribute pilot planners and units of work to the IB community and Aga Khan Academies through the OCC
  • Develop a sample process to show how enhanced understanding of a specific cultural context can be applied to the development of curriculum resources
