Calling all MYP mathematics and language acquisition teachers

Would you like to enhance your assessment design skills and create sample assessment tasks for mathematics or language acquisition?

With the launch of new subject guides for the 2020-2021 school year, we are looking for mathematics and language acquisition teachers in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) who would like to enhance their assessment design skills and contribute to the Teacher Support Material (TSM). Educators who join this project will be supported by an experienced workshop leader as they explore the principles of assessment task design, develop an assessment task for use in their own classroom, assess samples of student work and participate in a standardization exercise.

The first phase of this project will take place virtually in October and November 2020, during which participants will develop an assessment task for a unit that they will deliver in their classroom sometime between December and March. Participants will reconvene virtually in April and May to assess and standardize samples of student work.

Who can join?

This project is open to educators working in English, French or Spanish. Language acquisition teachers can also participate in Chinese or Arabic. Participation in this project is voluntary. Educators who complete the process and contribute samples for the TSM will receive an official letter acknowledging their contribution.

How can I get involved?

If you would like to participate, feel free to email us and include the following details:

  • The subject that you teach
  • The language(s) you work in
  • The level(s) that you teach (year level 1-5 for mathematics; the phase for language acquisition)
  • The assessment criteria (A, B, C and/or D) for which you would like to design a task
