Getting you up to speed, part 2

Happy start of the school year to my counselors and coordinators serving our North American IB students!

The beginning of the year is often a chaotic time these professionals. Many are busy registering students for classes, having meetings with parents and getting to know their new IB students, while reacquainting themselves with familiar faces. With all the newness of the year, many counselors still encounter lingering issues with former students. The most common is ensuring that their IB transcripts were successfully sent to their prospective colleges. The first step in alleviating any disconnects is ensuring that all of the wonderful universities who are accepting IB students keep their information up to date. It is important for registrars and admissions staff to regularly communicate any address, admission contacts and telephone changes promptly to the IB.  This allows for smooth delivery of the results that many IB students have worked hard to achieve.

To address this, the IB  is encouraging universities to register for electronic transcript retrieval. It is an eco-friendly, free of charge service available to all institutions around the world. Instead of the IB sending single paper transcripts, all transcripts will be available virtually on the International Baccalaureate Information System (IBIS) database. No more lost transcripts! Universities can then instantly view, download and print transcripts directly. If you would like more information about this, please feel free to contact me. Let’s help relieve some of the anxiety many IB students have and make it a worry free transcript year for everyone.
