How does a scientific mind look at the world, and how do students learn the thinking behind the doing?
Be part of an exciting project to understand what it means for a student to develop scientific inquiry skills throughout their IB education from 3-19 years. We are looking at both how scientific protocols are unpacked at different stages along the learning journey and how the thinking behind the inquiry develops.
We aim to
- Map the progression of scientific inquiry skills across the four IB programmes: Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP)
- Collect the excellent teaching and learning activities used by IB educators to nurture scientific skill development
- Create a resource for all IB World Schools that is fully illustrated to demonstrate how our students can learn to think like a scientist throughout their IB education.

Join a virtual discussion group to kickstart this project. We welcome all teachers, no matter what your level of science experience. Bring your ideas and an open mind as we discuss what we mean by “thinking like a scientist”?
