Hosting an alumni reunion in 2019? Your story could be here

alumni reunion resized

Is your IB World School planning a reunion? Or bringing together past IB graduates to speak with students? We’d like to hear about it and share news of your event here on the IB blog and on social media. Alumni reunions and alumni panel discussions are a great way to connect with past students and inspire current ones.

To share a story about your reunion with the IB community email us today.

What we are looking for

Students, educators and alumni to share a 300-400 word story with images to be featured here on These stories can be used to:

  • spread awareness for your event by leveraging our IB network
  • showcase your event highlights
  • feature students, alumni or educator attendees making a difference.
  • Need inspiration? Read about our 50th anniversary alumni event

Consider these story angles

Has your IB education had a strong impact on your school or alumni community? Consider interviewing peers and educators or sharing your own experience.

Did your event have a keynote speaker or guest of honor? Consider including them in your story with quotes or an interview.

Did your event have a social media presence (a Facebook page, or hashtags for Twitter and Instagram) or generate news coverage? Include those links in your story.

Planning tips

Reminders and updates

Send out reminders and updates to your attendees. Alumni are busy and a gentle reminder is always welcome, even on the day of the event.

Current and past student involvement

Consider asking an alumnus to support event planning. You may also ask alumni to host a separate career panel or discussion while they are in town for the event to engage students and inspire future career paths.

Expand your school’s alumni contacts

Use the event to help grow your reach. Ask graduates to share the event details with their network and be sure to offer ways for alumni to re-connect or sign up for a newsletter, even if they can’t attend in person.

Social media

Match your social media presence to your audience. Consider asking an alumnus for the class to help create a Facebook event page and a hashtag for Twitter and Instagram.
